WORKFORCE: Great Western Hospitals Foundation Trust has appointed more than 50 nurses from abroad.

A report to September’s board said the trust had recruited 39 nurses from Spain and Portugal, and 17 nurses and 13 midwives from Ireland.

The report said the first cohort of six nurses joined on 16 September with the remainder of the new recruits arriving every two weeks in groups of 10.

The trust has also arranged accommodation for the new recruits for their first few weeks.
