FINANCE: Over performance by secondary care providers has significantly reduced the year-end forecast for NHS Ashton, Leigh and Wigan, but the primary care trust is still predicting a surplus.
Board papers state that the PCT is forecasting a year-end surplus of £1.9m at month nine.
It says: “This is a reduction of £800,000 from that previously reported. This is primarily due to the continuing over performance of the secondary care sector.”
The PCT said it was “in discussion about the current level of over performance being reported” by its main acute provider Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Foundation Trust. The forecast overspend on secondary care is now £4.3m.
Board papers also warned that: “Costs associated with the 5 Boroughs Partnership Mental Health Foundation Trust have risen further this month and are forecast to over spend by £1.4m.”
