RESEARCH: Part of a £22m government investment in dementia research will help fund research trials in Manchester, were four out of the 21 trials are based.
Among them area study looking at helping people to live well with early stage Alzheimer’s using cognitive rehabilitation. This will focus on identifying goals for each sufferer in their everyday life.
The research project is led by Bangor University and is taking place in six areas in England and Wales. In Manchester the study is led by Dr Iracema Leroi, an honorary consultant psychiatrist at Manchester Mental Health and Social Care Trust.
