WORKFORCE: Guy’s and St Thomas’ Foundation Trust has a shortfall of 111 nurses, a report reveals
A review started in December 2011 has found an “overall shortfall” om staffing of 111 and the report presented to the last meeting of the board said “immediate action” was required to fill 30 vacancies in the medicine and elderly care departments.
The report said: “The PWC team worked in partnership with the senior nursing teams from each directorate, and a detailed review was undertaken of each ward budget; examining the planned and actual usage. Subsequently each of the directorate teams and their ward sisters completed individual ward level templates.
“The workforce committee agreed to support the needs of the staffing shortfall within medicine and elderly care, and the additional work to review the community nursing service and community workforce.”
