FINANCE: An Audit Commission report has declared Guy’s and St Thomas’ Foundation Trust “significantly worse” than the national average for mistakes in the clinical coding of work which it charges commissioners at tariff rates for.
A report to the NHS South East London based on the commission’s report said: “The performance of the trust, with a clinical coding Healthcare Resource Group error rate of 23 per cent, was significantly worse [in 2011-12] than the national average.
“Adequate progress had been made implementing previously agreed actions to improve outpatients coding and reference costs data, but progress for
inpatients data was limited.”
