WORKFORCE: Evelina Children’s Hospital’s imaging work is set to increase by 35 per cent by 2016 according to projections in Guy’s and St Thomas Foundation Trust board papers.
The trust is also gearing up for increased weekend working hours, with a particular focus on paediatric radiologists available 24 hours a day seven days a week.
The October board papers state: “Regardless of the workforce model it is clear that there will be a requirement for specialist paediatric radiologist skills to be available on a 24/7 basis.
The trust has been explicit in its expectation that any new consultant investment within the Clinical Information Management Programme in the year ahead would need to include a new paediatric radiologist as part of a move towards providing that 24/7 service.”
The papers go on to note that “the establishment of a 24/7 paediatric radiology service is also of strategic importance to King’s Health Partners”.
