PERFORMANCE: A Care Quality Commission compliance review has found that Basingstoke and North Hampshire NHS Foundation Trust are meeting all the essential standards of quality and safety.
The review, published on September 13, assessed the trust in all areas of health and safety, including the care and welfare of people who use the services, the cleanliness of the hospital, the standard of infection control and how services are monitored.
The review was based on a spot-check carried out at the end of May 2011.
The CQC said that all patients they spoke to saw the hospital’s domestic staff cleaning the ward areas every day. Patients and relatives also noted that visitors were made welcome on the wards and were given space to talk privately.
Donna Green, the trust’s director of nursing, said: “We are pleased with the outcome of the CQC’s inspection. This recognises the hard work and commitment of our staff. Quality and safety is our top priority. We will continue to look at ways in which we maintain and even improve on these high standards.”
