STRUCTURE: Hampshire Hospitals Foundation Trust is considering establishing a fourth hospital, according to a local clinical commissioning group.
The provider currently operates Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital, the Royal Hampshire County Hospital, and Andover War Memorial Hospital.
West Hampshire CCG board papers for July say: “Hampshire Hospitals Foundation Trust has indicated to the public that it is in the early stages of considering service developments, including a potential fourth hospital, in order to ensure access to the highest quality services for all areas of the West Hampshire CCG population.
“Further to the meeting of the WHCCG board with members of the Hampshire Hospitals Foundation Trust, a further discussion was held between the Wessex [NHS England] Area Team, the trust and local CCGs in June to discuss the process by which the development will be progressed so as to ensure full engagement of the public, local clinicians and stakeholders.
“This will also be discussed by the health and wellbeing board in July, and a verbal update will be provided at the board meeting.
“A detailed clinical pathway review session has been arranged between lead clinicians from both organisations and North Hampshire CCG on 31 July 2013.”
