PERFORMANCE: Hampshire Hospitals Foundation Trust reported two never events relating to surgical procedures in the first quarter of 2012-13.
The Southampton, Hampshire, Isle of Wight and Portsmouth primary care trust cluster is reviewing the root cause analysis of those incidents and, according to cluster board papers for September, had not yet signed off the investigations.
The papers also said: “Following the initial good start to the year for reducing MRSA bacteraemias, there have been three patients at Hampshire Hospitals who have acquired… MRSA.”
The trust also reported two mixed sex accommodation breaches in July 2012, a “slight improvement” on previous months.
Latest death rate figures showed a “significant improvement”, with a summary hospital mortality indicator figure of 1.05, down from the previous figure of 1.14.
