PERFORMANCE: Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust has topped a league table rating cancer patients’ experience across England, compiled by Macmillan Cancer Support.

It uses data from the Department of Health’s National Cancer Patient Experience Survey. Harrogate and District Foundation Trust is the best performing for the second year running.

It scored highly in giving patients easy to understand, written information about tests (98% compared with 86% national average), and showed an improvement since last year in ward nurses answering nearly all questions patients asked (84% compared with 73% in 2010). Eight out of the top ten best performing trusts are in the North of England.

Imperial College Healthcare Trust is the poorest performing trust on cancer patient experience for the second year running.
