The first real acid test of how closely the coalition’s junior partner is allied to the proposed health reforms will come next week at the Liberal Democrats’ annual conference in Liverpool.

Once again the leading health interest groups have banded together under the Health Hotel banner to organise an extensive fringe programme.

Highlights include the most senior Lib Dem health minister Paul Burstow on the reorganisation of public health provision and health spending.

Other speakers include Royal College of Surgeons president John Black on patient safety and London School of Economics professor of social policy and former adviser to Tony Blair, Julian Le Grand.

Full programme details can be accessed at: www.healthhotel.org.uk/fringes/lib-dems

HSJ is the official media partner of the Health Hotel and will carry coverage of the fringe programme online and in next week’s journal. HSJ readers will be also able to gain free access to coverage of the conference by DeHavilland, the UK’s leading provider of political intelligence.

Readers can sign up at www.dehavilland.co.uk/conference-offer from Friday 17 September.
