WORKFORCE: Heart of England Foundation Trust has appointed a new medical director.

Andrew Catto, who was previously the medical director at Airedale Foundation Trust, will take up the role at the large Birmingham acute trust.

In a statement Dr Catto said: “I am thrilled to be joining the trust… as the third largest NHS trust in the UK, it is absolutely essential that we ensure the delivery of care at Heartlands, Solihull and Good Hope Hospital is of the highest standard.

“I have a particular interest in whole system transformation, with experience working across the whole health and social care system to progress closer working relationships with primary care, which is something I will be looking to develop further in my role at Heart of England.”

Heart of England chief executive Mark Newbold said the trust was “delighted” to welcome Mr Catto.
