PERFORMANCE: The east London acute trust has been nominated for an Andy Ludlow Homelessness award for its work with patients with no recourse to public funds.

A release from the London Councils umbrella body, which runs the awards, said: “A significant minority of patients who are treated at the Homerton are homeless and ineligible for social housing. This can lead to complications in their treatment.

“The multidisciplinary team at Homerton, which provides care and treatment for patients diagnosed with TB, negotiated a service level of agreement with the local homeless persons unit at Hackney council, to ensure that homeless patients have somewhere to stay while they are being treated for TB.”

The winners of ther Andy Ludlow awards are announced in October.
