PERFORMANCE: The east London FT had an average handover time of 11.2 minutes, one of only four in the capital to meet NHS London’s green rating target.
In second, third and fourth places were Chelsea and Westminster Hospital Foundation Trust with 11.8 minutes, Queen Mary’s, Sidcup, with 12.1 minutes and St George’s in Tooting with 12.2 minutes.
“Green” rating was less than 12.5 minutes average handover time, “average” was 12.5-15 minutes which 12 trusts scored, with “red” being anything over that..
Homerton was also the best performing in London for the percentage of handover times over 15 minutes, with 18.6 per cent. This was less half the rate of most of the capital’s trusts
The figures are for one week in November and were presented to NHS London’s Professional Leadership Group in December.
An accompanying graph showed the average arrival to patient handover scores across London’s hospitals had risen steadily from 13 minutes in August to nearly 15.5 minutes by the end of October.
