SERVICES: More Bedford patients can now get specialist eye care without having to travel after the opening of a new clinic run by Moorfields Eye Hospital Foundation Trust.

Moorfields chief executive, John Pelly said: “Satellite locations like the two we now have in Bedford mean that many patients no longer have to attend our main hospital in London to access specialist treatment, including regular care for conditions such as age-related macular degeneration.”

The new clinic is in a purpose-build centre in the town centre; it will supplement services based in Bedford Hospital which has worked with Moorfields since 2007.

The new building was financed through the NHS LIFT.
