Northampton General Hospital Trust has been warned that its mortality rates for gastrointestinal and liver diseases for the last year are higher than would be expected, according to preliminary information from the Dr Foster ‘Good Hospital Guide’.

The warning, coming ahead of a Care Quality Commission review due in January, notes that the trust is a ‘composite mortality outlier’ in those areas of care.

A detailed analysis of the data is underway, including a review of work already undertaken during the 2012/13 period for previously recognised areas of concern.
