Government adviser on social mobility and former health secretary
Mr Milburn was the architect of the NHS plan - the foundation stone for Labour’s NHS modernisation. He stood down from the post of health secretary, and eventually politics, to spend more time with his family. He remains active in health as an adviser to venture capital firm Bridgepoint Capital and Lloydspharmacy. Like his former colleague and flatmate Lord Hutton (28), he has taken an advisory role with the coalition, ruffling some Labour feathers.
