PERFORMANCE: The central London trust has appointed Steve McManus as chief operating officer, from the equivalent role at University Hospital Southampton Foundation Trust.
Mr McManus said: “I see my role as balancing the delivery of the highest quality clinical care with meeting, and exceeding, the levels of operational performance expected by our commissioners, our patients and their families.”
The trust has suffered a series of setbacks to its performance in recent months and the Department of Health and NHS London have agreed the trust can have a “reporting holiday” from its 18-week referral time and cancer wait statistics after data problems.
Chief executive Mark Davies said: “I am absolutely delighted someone of Steve’s calibre will be joining us at such a critical time.
“He has exactly the right set of skills and experience to meet the operational challenges we currently face and assist us in delivering world class performance on our way to becoming a foundation trust.
“When I joined the trust last May I undertook to strengthen the executive team, and the appointment represents the latest piece of the leadership jigsaw.”
Mr McManus will take up post from August.
