WORKFORCE: Imperial have apppointed Brendan Farmer from Capgemini as director of strategy.

The former consultant has worked in the Department of Health in an advisory role on reconfiguration options for trusts.

He said in a statement: “I am really excited to be joining Imperial at this time. As the pace of service change in the London North West Cluster increases to provide patients with great 21st century healthcare, Imperial College Healthcare has an important role to play in shaping and delivering the new services.”

Imperial College Healthcare Trust’s interim chief executive Mark Davies said: “I am delighted that someone of Brendan’s calibre will be joining us at such a crucial time. This role is key in enabling us to work with our partners across North West London and beyond to create a coherent and sustainable clinical strategy for the Trust and the sector.

“Bringing in a new director of Sstrategy comes shortly after the excellent chief financial officer and chief information officer appointments which were made at the end of last year and represents another major step in strengthening the executive team.”

An advert was placed in last week’s HSJ for a permanent chief executive but it is not known if Mr Davies, appointed last April, will apply for the job.
