It hasn't been often over the last few years that I have found myself agreeing with IT.Richard Granger (News, 3 May) but here here!
Working in an acute trust, it is clear that access to patient details is far better controlled under the new system than it ever was on the old systems, with the introduction of individual chip and pin cards and role-based access.
OK, so people in other parts of the country may be able to access your data now, but if I ever find myself in a hospital other than my local one, I shall be happy that the doctors have as much information as possible to assist them in my care. It's time for the privacy fascists to get real.
