PERFORMANCE James Paget University Hospitals Foundation Trust was one of 12 trusts which had “lower than expected” mortality rates in five recent summary hospital-level mortality indicator data publications.

The July 2013 SHMI publication said the trust was one of twelve which “was categorised as ‘lower than expected’ in both the July 2012 and July 2013 publications, along with their SHMI bandings for the October 2012, January 2013 and April 2013 publications”.

Ten out of the twelve trusts were identified as repeat outliers in the previous edition of a supplementary outlier report, the Health and Social Care Information Centre document said.
