FINANCE: Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust saved £500,000 by completing its rollout of the RiO IT system three months ahead of schedule.
According to a March board report, the trust’s RiO v5.4 ImplementationKent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust Project was completed around the end September 2011.
The report said: “The project was completed in six months. The original rollout plan was to complete rollout by 31 December. Therefore the rollout was completed three months ahead of the original schedule.
“The project was completed over £600,000 under the original budget with a saving on external costs of over £500,000.”
It added: “An experienced RiO project manager and small team of contractors was employed and supported by internal staff to deliver the project ahead of time and well within budget.”
Around 3,000 staff were trained in support of the roll out in six months.
