WORKFORCE: Bob Deans has taken up post as the trust’s new Interim chief executive for 12 months.

He was previously chief executive of the primary care trust NHS Southampton City for around three years.

Mr Deans will help the trust progress towards its foundation trust status application by October 2012.

The previous Kent and Medway chief executive, Erville Millar, retired in June. Executive director of operations Marie Dodd had been acting chief executive since then.

A “substantive appointment will be made to the chief executive position in the coming year”, the trust said.

However, the rest of the trust’s senior management is also undergoing a state of change. One of Mr Dean’s first acts at the trust’s July board meeting was to “instigate” recruitment of a finance director “with immediate effect”.

The trust’s chair Peter Smallridge, who has been at the organisation since 2006, has also recently announced his retirement.
