STRUCTURE: a new mental health service that aims to provide mental health support to those admitted to Medway Maritime Hospital was launched this month.
The Medway Liaison Psychiatry Service, run by Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust, works closely with staff at Medway Maritime Hospital to ensure patient’s mental health is assessed and treated effectively alongside any physical health problems.
Staff in A&E or on wards can ask the team for advice, assistance or a full mental health assessment.
Service manager Kim Solly said: “This new service will really improve the quality of care patients receive. It will make mental health support more accessible for patients at Medway Maritime Hospital and we are looking forward to working with the staff there to provide specialist expert advice.
“This service has been running in east Kent for over a year and the results are really positive. We hope to have the same positive impact here in Medway.”
