WORKFORCE: Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust is expecting to cut around 20 qualified nursing positions over 2011-12.

The trust is forecasting making the cut as a part of a raft of efficiency savings but said that it was not yet confirmed. It currently has 976 qualified nursing staff.

A spokeswoman said: “Our primary focus is on delivering services more efficiently, thus protecting front line services and focusing on reducing back office costs.”

She added that the trust was unable to make any comment about any cuts in nursing posts in 2012-13 at this stage.
