WORKFORCE: Dr Nellie Adjaye, a Kent Community Health NHS Trust consultant paediatrician, was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire in the New Year Honours list.
Dr Adjaye, 66, who has worked with children and families in Maidstone for over 24 years, was given the honour for services to child health and protection.
She spent 18 months as the main medical advisor to Lord Laming during his inquiry into the death of Victoria Climbie.
Dr Adjaye said: “Initially it was going to be for six months but it ended up being for 18 months.
“Working on the Laming Inquiry was tough and harrowing but Lord Laming made it easy for us all to work together.”
She is also a fellow of the Royal College of Paediatricians and a founding Fellow of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons.
