FINANCE: Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was £179,000 in deficit at the end of May, and behind on its financial plan for 2012-13 by nearly £1m, latest board papers show.

It’s latest finance report states that “operational financial performance for the month ending 31 May 2012 is a deficit position of £0.179k”. “This represents an adverse variance of £985,000 from plan”.

The paper adds that this was the “result of clinical income being slightly behind plan during May and… an element of slippage on efficiency schemes”.
