STRUCTURE: Chris Butler, Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust chief executive, has been made a member of the Yorkshire and Humber Partnership AHSN steering group, which hopes to get the group approved next year.

The other members of the transition steering group are Sheffield Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust chief executive Sir Andrew Cash, Maggie Boyle (Chief Executive Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust), Phil Morley (Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust), and Ian Atkinson (Chief Operating Officer, Sheffield Clinical Commissioning Group).

The first AHSNs are in the process of being designated. According to a board paper of one member, Bradford Care Trust, it is “is one of the applications in the earlier implementation group with an aim to be operational from April 2013”.

Its business plan should be completed by 4 January.

Its planned “key short term deliverables” are:

  • “£1bn leveraged additional income over 5 years - through a mixture of grants, investment, job creation”
  • delivery of the 6 high impact innovations
  • implementation of NICE technical appraisals within 90 days
  • transformation academy
