STRUCTURE: All but seven of 115 GP practices in Leeds have signed up as members of four emerging clinical commissioning groups (formerly known as GP consortia), according to the latest information provided to HSJ by the PCT.

The four are Leeds Alliance, Leodis, Calibre and H3plus.

The PCT said: “At the current time, there are no formal plans for federating/grouping together of commissioning consortia in the area. The three groups already work collaboratively across the city and submitted a joint pathfinder [application] covering the three groups.

“The consortia have identified a particular focus from 1 April 2011 as being non-elective care and prescribing. Budgets have not been formally delegated to consortia at this time.

“[But] the consortia are key partners in the Leeds Transformation Programme, which is a city-wide agreement between health and social care partners to work together to deliver the challenges ahead, including increasing quality and innovation and productivity.”
