WORKFORCE: The chair of Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust has announced his retirement.
Mike Collier will step down shortly before his 70th birthday after leading the £900m-turnover teaching hospital for four years.
In a statement he said: “This is something I have been thinking about for some months, bearing in mind I will be 70 early next year,
“Our hospitals are still on a journey towards becoming a foundation trust, and I believe that to complete the application process, achieve FT status and ensure it is successfully established will take a commitment of several years.
“With that in mind I am convinced now is the best time to step aside so a new leader can be appointed to lead this next stage of our development.”
The NHS Trust Development Authority will supervise the appointment of a replacement.
