COMMERCIAL: Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland cluster of PCTs have appointed Interserve as the preferred bidder for a major NHS estates contract.

It would be required to run the management of over 550 NHS buildings and properties totalling 490,000m sq.

It will also involve the provision of on-site services such as catering, cleaning and security for Leicestershire Partnership Trust, University Hospitals of Leicester and the community and primary care services which will come under the new clinical commissioning groups.

Sue Bishop, director of finance for the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland PCT Cluster said: “This is a significant stage in our plans to improve the quality of facilities for patients, visitors and staff.

“We have been working together for two years to develop our estates and core facilities management services to give us the best possible quality and value for money, right across the NHS.”

A full contract between the cluster and Interserve is expected to be agreed by Decemeber.”
