COMMERCIAL: Lewisham and Greenwich Trust is to close a 13-bed ward after commissioners insisted that there was no need for it, according to board papers.

Minutes of a previous board meeting, presented to the organisation’s June board, said: ”The chief executive reported that the commissioners would no longer fund Foxbury ward as they still did not believe it was required. Arrangements were being made to close the ward and there would be no new admissions. There were currently 13 patients on the ward, 11 from Bexley and two from Greenwich, all awaiting packages of care in the community.”
