CLINICAL RESEARCH: Greater Manchester Academic Health Science Network has appointed a managing director and interim chair.

Chief executive of the Association of British Healthcare Industries Peter Ellingworth will begin a six month period as chair at the end of the month. The ABHI is the industry association for the UK medical device sector and Mr Ellingworth currently represents industry on the Implementation Board of the government’s Innovation Health and Wealth Report.

Raj Jain, currently chief executive of Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital Foundation Trust, has been appointed as Managing Director and will start full time with GM AHSN in early autumn. In the interim period, he will be working two days a week on the establishment of GM AHSN, connecting with our membership. Mr Jain is also board director at the Institute of Cardiovascular Medicine and Science and Liverpool Health Partners and a board member of the North West Coast AHSN

David Dalton, GM AHSN Acting Accountable Officer, said: “With Peter and Raj now confirmed in their roles, GM AHSN is putting the pieces in place to help improve the health of our population and create opportunities for wealth and employment. They are both great appointments for our AHSN and give us the right skills and experience to start our plans.”
