Salisbury NHS FT has appointed a former nurse as its new chief executive officer.

Stacey Hunter will take cover from Cara Charles-Barks, who has been appointed chief executive of the Royal United Hospitals Bath.

Ms Hunter has worked as the executive director of acute provider collaboration for Airedale Foundation Trust since April 2019. She was recently seconded to Yorkshire and Humber Nightingale Hospital as chief operating officer, in response to the covid-19 crisis.

SFT chair Nick Marsden said: “It is with great pleasure that I can announce the new chief executive officer at Salisbury Foundation Trust will be Stacey Hunter.

“We had considerable interest in the position and finding opportunities for candidates to visit the hospital has been challenging given the COVID-19 restrictions.

“The panel was determined to find a candidate that would fit in and continue to drive the progress we have made here at Salisbury over the past four years. We are confident we have achieved that objective.”

Ms Hunter started her career in 1990 at Hull Hospitals and Leeds Teaching Hospitals, moving up the ranks to become senior nurse and matron.

She has taken on a number of managerial roles and joined Airedale NHS FT in 2013, where she worked as chief operating officer for six years.
