PERFORMANCE: Lengths of stay at George Eliot Hospital Trust are at their highest level since April 2009 and the second highest level since 2005-6.

The level of delayed transfers of care remains a problem and this is reflected in increased lengths of stay for both elective and emergency care.

Overall length of stay (excluding maternity care) has increased each month from the beginning of the year and stood at 6.9 days in December.

This has continued to put pressure on inpatient capacity and there has been significant use of additional capacity, the level of which has increased in December, and cancellation of operations at short notice.
