FINANCE: NHS London said the capital’s health economy at month four of 2011-12 was over-plan for outpatient referrals, total elective day cases and non-elective activity.

A finance report to the board also said activity was below plan for elective ordinary admissions and first outpatient attendances.

The report said: “Activity levels are key for the delivery of financial, referral to treatment and emergency care thresholds. At commissioner level there are some significant levels of over performance.

“Work is ongoing with clusters to ensure that there is a clear understanding of current activity and finance positions, with action set where there are issues of over performance.”
