PERFORMANCE: Medway Foundation Trust met its target for cases of Clostridium difficile in 2011-12 but breached for MRSA.
Papers presented at the FT’s council of governors meeting in June stated that the trust achieved the target for Clostridium difficile associated diarrhoea with a year-end performance of 39 cases against a target of 41.
“This is the best ever performance with this indicator,” the papers said. But they warned that the target for 2012-13 was 26, which is a “challenge to reduce cases further”.
“A robust plan has been developed and this has been monitored weekly by NHS Kent and Medway commissioners,” the papers said.
However, there were four cases of MRSA during 2011-12, breaching the target of two cases.
“The trust has developed a plan to enhance our performance with this indicator in an aim to meet this year’s target of two, year to date zero cases,” the papers said.
