FINANCE: A healthcare charity in Medway will receive a share of the £3.6m financial assistance fund set up to support charitiesby the Department of Health.

Caring Hands in the Community, in Medway, will received £26,000. The money is being targeted at charities which would not otherwise have survived to the end of the financial year.

To qualify for funding, organisations must have “robust plans” in place for future funding, and prove that there would be a considerable knock-on effect on other frontline services if the organisation ceased to exist.

They must also contribute to the delivery of DH objectives, which no other organisation could provide in the short to medium term, or deliver health and/or social care activity and/or support, which no other organisation could provide in the short term.
