Tom Cahill has been announced as the new chief executive of the Hertfordshire Partnership foundation trust.

Bill Macintyre, who has held the position since the mental health trust was formed in 2001, is retiring in the summer.

Mr Cahill was previously deputy chief executive and joined Hertfordshire Partnership in February 2005 as the director of nursing and practice governance.

He said: “I look forward to working in partnership with our service users and carers, staff, governors and partner organisations in enhancing the quality of our services and making them something we can all be proud of.”

Challenging

“The trust already has a good reputation, which has been developed over many years under the leadership of Mr Macintyre.”

Chair Hattie Llewelyn-Davies said: “I am very pleased that we have appointed Mr Cahill to lead us through the next stage of the trust’s development.

“We are entering a challenging time, and I am confident that Mr Cahill’s passion for quality in mental health and learning disability services will enable us to provide the best possible care, treatment and support for our service users and carers.”
