PERFORMANCE: The Trust is the first in the North West to provide patients with a ground-breaking new treatment for skin cancer.
Electrochemotherapy is a new method of delivering chemotherapy into cancer cells and is used to treat skin cancer when other forms of treatment have proved ineffective.
As the Cheshire and Merseyside Regional Centre for Skin Cancer, the Trust is one of just 5 in the country and the first in the region to provide Electrochemotherapy to patients.
This new treatment is administered under general anaesthetic in the operating theatre and takes around 30 minutes. It can be undertaken as a day case procedure and patients may not need to stay in hospital overnight.
