MENTAL HEALTH: Some young people with mental health problems have been placed in inpatient units out of the 5 Boroughs Partnership Foundation Trust’s remit because of lack of space in its own child and adolescent mental health services.

The trust has some services with waiting times in excess of best practice guidelines, a board meeting heard.

Trust board papers state: “We remain concerned that there are young people continuing to be placed out of the area, requiring an inpatient admission to a children and adolescent unit due to our inpatient unit remaining full.

“The clinical management team continues to prioritise the admission of those placed out of area at the earliest clinically appropriate opportunity and in the month we are able to facilitate a return of three young people placed out of area.”
