WORKFORCE: Managers from Mid Yorkshire Hospitals Trust plan to go to India later this month with the aim of recruiting 70 nurses.

They hope to have the nurses in post by the end of May. The trust had 78 whole-time equivalent positions vacant in December for adult inpatient areas.  The medicine division has particular problems, with 47 vacancies as of December.

The trust’s assistant chief nurse, Helen Hey, said in a report to the board: “The rolling recruitment programme continues and the team plans for open events and attendance at job fairs throughout the early spring. In addition, the team are working on a return to practice programme with a local university.”
