WORKFORCE: Moorfields Eye Hospital Foundation Trust has appointed a new chief executive.

David Probert will take up the role in April next year.

He is currently the director of strategic development at University College London Hospitals Foundation Trust. He was previously chief operating officer at Royal Marsden Foundation Trust and has held a number of senior operational leadership positions at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Foundation Trust.

Moorfields’ current chief executive, John Pelly, is to retire at the end of this month.

Julian Nettel has been appointed as an interim.

Mr Nettel was previously interim chief executive at Great Ormond Street Hospital Foundation Trust.

Mr Probert said: “I am honoured to have been asked to be the next chief executive at Moorfields. I very much look forward to joining the team next year and helping take forward a number of major initiatives to help define the hospital’s exciting future.”
