PERFORMANCE: An integrated, community based musculoskeletal service has cut average waiting times to eight weeks during its first year, Croydon Clinical Commissioning Group has said.

The service was set up in April last year to bring in an integrated pathway involving community physiotherapy, acute physiotherapy, and assessing and triaging MSK patients in community settings.

The new service has a single administration hub and single point of contract, electronic referrals, named physiotherapists for each GP practice and gym sessions.

CCG governing body papers said: “The focus was of the redesign was to create a pathway of integrated care. Waiting times have reduced to eight weeks and there is a named physiotherapist for each practice to contact for clinical support, education, advice and to help solve problems.”
