FINANCE: Wiltshire Clinical Commissioning Group is to use the £4.3m it has been allocated from the government’s winter pressures funding to support service redesign schemes to halt unnecessary hospital admissions.

The CCG will receive the additional funding as part of a national allocation of £700m to help providers with seasonal pressures this year.

The cash will be made available to support “a number of service redesign schemes aimed at preventing inappropriate admission to hospitals”, board papers disclose.

It should also help support earlier discharge when people have attended their local emergency department, the document adds.
