FINANCE: Cannock Chase Clinical Commissioning Group has reported a deficit of £2.06m in the financial year to July, £12,000 lower than planned.

The in-year deficit figure for July is set against a forecast deficit for 2015-16 of £6.38m, according to papers to be presented to the CCG’s board last week.

The documents said: “The planned… deficit for 2015-16 for Cannock Chase is £6.377m, however the CCG is aiming to eliminate as much as possible of this deficit in year as part of the requirement to be in recurrent balance by next year and to begin to repay historically accumulated deficits.

“This ambition will require the identification of significant savings from across the contracting portfolio and other expenditure.

“These continue to be pursued via the executive management team and CCG committee structure.”
