FINANCE: Erewash CCG had overspent by more than £1m on acute contracts by the end of November – largely as a result of work by Derby Hospitals Foundation Trust and Nottingham University Hospitals Trust.

The overspending related to Derby Hospitals and Nottingham University Hospitals was £0.92m and £0.46m respectively.

The contract with private provider Circle was overspent by £0.32m, but underspending totalling £0.64m with “other acute providers” and “other non-NHS providers” redressed the balance in part.

CCG governing body papers state: “Waiting list initiatives to reduce the referral to treatment times for patients are seeing some increases in planned care across the main contracts, with separate budgets set aside.”
