WORKFORCE: The chief executive of North Bristol Trust has announced her retirement after 18 months in the post.
Ruth Brunt, who joined the trust as director of nursing in 2004, will step down in April 2012.
In a statement released by the trust, Ms Brunt said: “With almost 40 years in the NHS it was always my intention to retire next year.
“With the recent launch of our foundation trust application and the incredible progress being made on the new hospital at Southmead, I thought this would be the perfect time to hand over to someone new.”
She added: “North Bristol NHS Trust really is a great place to work and I have been extremely privileged to work alongside such dedicated staff over the last seven years for an organisation that really has gone from strength-to-strength.”
Prior to North Bristol, Ms Brunt had a wide ranging career in district nursing, midwifery, nursing education as well as general management roles.
Trust chair Peter Rilett, said: “I would like to thank Ruth for her excellent work in leading this organisation over the past 18 months.
“Her energy, drive and enthusiasm have provided real impetus to our organisation and our ability to meet the challenges ahead.
“The trust will now be looking for an exceptional individual to take the organisation forward into the new hospital and develop further the high quality hospital and community services our patients have come to expect from us.”
An advertisement for a new chief executive will be published next month.
