FINANCE: NHS North Essex is investing over £250,000 to improve memory services in Mid Essex and keep waiting lists down.

The current service, provided by North Essex Partnership Foundation Trust, has been seeing 65 people a month over the last year and demand is growing.

Andrew Geldard, NEPFT chief executive, said “Early diagnosis of memory problems, possibly the beginnings of dementia, makes a huge difference. Treatments start sooner, delaying the onset of symptoms and people can learn more about living well with dementia.

“Early intervention also means more meaningful support is offered to carers. In financially tight times this extra investment in early intervention is a great commitment from commissioners.”
