PERFORMANCE: North Middlesex University Hospital saw an increase in non-elective episodes for the year-to-date 20 per cent higher than last year, a report to NHS London’s board revealed.

Nine London trusts saw an increase in non-elective first finished consultant episodes  for the year-to-date of five per cent or more.

The NHS defines an FFCE as “The first completed episode of a patient’s stay in hospital.  Where a patient is under the care of one consultant and doesn’t transfer consultants during their stay, the FFCE will be the same duration as the hospital spell.”
